T’gana MSME policy, young India Skills Univ to be showcased to PM

Hyderabad: Telangana’s newly unveiled MSME policy and the upcoming Young India Skills University have been selected for showcasing to the Prime Minister at the upcoming annual conference of chief secretaries of various states, Telangana ITE&C department special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan said on Friday.
Speaking at the 20th edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Telangana’s flagship manufacturing excellence conference Man’Exe-2024, Ranjan said the policy was unique because the state govt not only took into consideration the pain points of MSMEs but also drew from global best practices while framing it.
He said a detailed action plan and roadmap had already been drawn up for the MSME policy with new industrial parks being identified and plan to dovetail industrial development for women under the Indira Mahila Shakti flagship programme.
On the YISU he said govt decided that the varsity would not start a course unless it had a private sector partner to anchor the course and assure the govt that a chunk of those trained would be absorbed by them.
He said after the MSME policy, state govt was also in the process of revising policies for sectors such as life sciences, electronics, electric mobility, electric storage, and aerospace & defence, among others, and embellishing them with unique offerings.
IT & industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said Telangana govt was focused on rolling out sector specific policies as it recognises that manufacturers need an ecosystem that offers flexibility, scalability, and innovation, given the major disruptions taking place in the world thanks to technologies such as AI.
He said the govt is working closely with industry to ensure an abundant supply of industry-ready manpower through YISU as as well as the tie-up with Tata group to convert ITIs into advanced training centres.
On the occasion, the minister also gave away the Telangana State Industry Awards 2023 to 30 companies and industry bodies in association with GlobalLinker.
