Hyderabad: Police arrested one Mohd. Syed for dragging a home guard to a distance of about 50 metres during a routine police check. Syed has been sent to judicial remand for allegedly obstructing a home guard from doing his duties, Panjagutta police said.
In a video of the incident, Syed is seen driving ahead when asked to stop and also dragging the home guard to a considerable distance.
According to west zone DCP Vijay Kumar, two officers from the Panjagutta traffic police had conducted a special drive against wrong-side driving and black film glasses on the windows of cars.
When this vehicle was found with a black frame, SI Anjaneyulu and home guard Ramesh, who were conducting the checks at Panjagutta junction, tried to stop the vehicle. However, Syed, instead of stopping, tried to drive away, in the process dragged the home guard for a distance of 50 metres.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Panjagutta traffic inspector M. Bose Kiran said, “This check has been going on for the last four to five days. The youngster was coming from Malakpet to MJ college in Panjagutta. All that we noticed was just that black film and so tried to catch hold of him.”
Eyewitness SI Anjaneyulu said, “The home guard is safe. We have registered a complaint with the law and order police.”
