Vijayawada: The govt suspended M Vijaya Raju, joint secretary of legislature secretariat, for “unauthorized communication and misuse of official position”. The suspension order, effective immediately, was issued under rule 8 (1)(a) of Andhra Pradesh Civil Services (Conduct, Classification, and Appeal) Rules, 1991. The suspension followed an investigation by the DGP, who reported that Vijaya Raju sent an unauthorized communication on Sep 24, fraudulently representing the secretary general to the state legislature. The alleged misconduct led to disciplinary proceedings, as officials believe his continuation in office could risk tampering with official records, influencing witnesses, or fabricating evidence.
According to the order copy, the governor, in consultation with the chairman of legislative council and the speaker of legislative assembly, ordered Raju’s suspension to ensure a fair and impartial inquiry. During the suspension period, Raju has been asked to remain in Amaravati, and is restricted from leaving without prior permission from authorities. He will receive a subsistence allowance as per rules.
