Hyderabad Plans Single Window for Industrial Land Conversion to Boost Economy |

Plan for single window to clear owners’ pleas

Hyderabad: Of the total industrial units in the city, nearly 20% to 30% of them are sick and closed, having about 1,400 acres of land.
Sources said there were requests from the industry owners to convert their industrial land to multi-use and make it economically viable. Some landowners in Nacharam, Sanathnagar and other places have already converted their land and raised residential and commercial complexes.
Officials said the govt wants to come up with a hassle-free policy and help it to get some revenue. The govt is planning to clear such requests through a single window once the policy is approved by the cabinet, it is learnt.
“The previous BRS govt took a decision to shift polluting industries in the city to outside ORR’s purview. The industrial units categorised as ‘red’ and ‘orange’ were asked to shift immediately and most of them have shifted. Presently, only non-polluting units are operating,” a senior official of TGIIC said.
The BRS govt had laid down a condition for land conversion in industrial areas, especially in Uppal. But there was no response from the unit owners as there was a condition that part of the land should be developed for IT, a TGIIC official explained.
