Major Encroachments Cleared in Shastripuram and Film Nagar, Hyderabad |

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials on Saturday razed around 180 sheds and illegal structures erected on footpaths between Shastripuram and Vattepally in Rajendranagar. These structures were causing traffic jams and hampering pedestrian movement in the locality.
GHMCtown planning wing officials, in coordination with police, initiated action against footpath encroachments at Shastripuram. Initially, the civic body instructed local merchants to vacate their temporary structures. Though a few traders complied willingly, others refused to cooperate, prompting GHMC to undertake enforcement measures.

Later in the day, HYDRAA authorities removed encroachments in Film Nagar following a complaint by locals about structures encroaching on the place where the main road meets Film Nagar road. On inspection, authorities found encroachments on the road, consisting of a residential boundary wall and a shed.
HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath instructed GHMC Khairatabad zonal commissioner Anurag Jayanti to expedite the road works, which were expected to be completed in two days.
