Hyderabad: A seven-year-old boy, who was alone at home and sleeping, was burnt alive when a fire broke out due to a suspected short circuit in BJR Nagar near Jawahar Nagar on Friday. The boy’s mother, a daily wager, went to a neighbour’s house for a function. She had lost her husband a few years ago.
Police said the boy studied in class 2 at a govt school. Late on Friday evening, as he was sleepy, his mother put him to sleep, police said.
The neighbours rushed to the house on noticing the smoke, but by that time fire had spread in the room. They doused the fire with buckets before the fire tenders arrived. When they entered, they found the charred body of the boy. “While a short circuit (due to loose cables) appears to be the cause, a detailed probe is underway,” said S Saidaiah, SHO of Jawahar Nagar. tnn
