Hyderabad: A woman travelling from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, to Hyderabad left police in a quandary after she reported her bag containing gold ornaments missing, only to later express uncertainty about whether she had brought the right bag, as per a TOI report.
Initial Panic Over Missing Gold
The incident unfolded on Friday morning when the woman, who was en route to Hyderabad, raised an alarm at Narketpally. She claimed her bag containing 30 tolas of gold ornaments had been stolen from the bus. Acting swiftly, the driver diverted the bus directly to the Abdullapurmet police station, where the police conducted a thorough search of all passengers’ bags but found no trace of the missing gold.
Changing Statements and Confusion
After insisting that her valuable gold ornaments were indeed missing, the woman was advised to head to the Narketpally police station to formally file a complaint. However, upon further questioning by the Narketpally police, her story began to shift. A police official from Narketpally explained, “She came to our police station. When we enquired about the case, she herself was confused about the total quantity she was carrying. After some time, she was not sure whether she actually brought the right bag.”
No Case Registered Yet
As confusion grew, the woman admitted that she might have left her bag at home, and requested to return to check if her gold was indeed missing. Given her conflicting statements, no official complaint was registered by the police at the time of the latest reports.
