Hyderabad: CPI sate scretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao on Sunday urged the govt to re-include Nagavamsiyulu and 25 other castes into the backward classes list in Telangana.
He said this after a delegation of the Telangana Nagavamsiyulu Welfare Association submitted a memorandum to him stating that they were part of the BC list in the state. They were removed from the BC list after the formation of Telangana state in 2014 by the previous govt.
They told the CPI leader that they have been living in the state through generations and that they not only lost the status of being BCs but their children also lost out on all welfare schemes being extended to the BCs.
They urged the CPI leader to take up their cause with the govt to re-include them in the BC list after the caste survey is completed and save the future of their children. “We will not demand any reservation status but only want our community to be included in the BC list,” a member of the association said.
Stating that he already raised this issue in the assembly once, Kunamneni assured them that he would take their issue to the govt. The CPI is a 2023 assembly election pre-poll ally of ruling Congress in Telangana.
Kunamneni also demanded that the govt should seriously look into the demand of some sections of people that certain questions being asked as part of the caste survey, against which objections have been raised, should be removed from the questionnaire. Seek info which would help the deprived sections, he said.
