New App, Staff Changes by HMDA to Prevent Illegal Layout Approvals

Hyderabad: The HMDA has drafted the services of revenue inspectors (RI) from the revenue department and assistant executive engineers (AEE) from the irrigation department to clear applications under the layout regularisation scheme. (LRS). They will also inspect the site along with the town planning staff before giving approval.

In doing so, the HMDA has dispensed with the practice of deploying tahsildars, to ensure that illegal layouts do not get the nod. The HMDA has developed a mobile app for the purpose, to be used by its officials.

Through these changes, the HMDA aims to ensure the land in the prohibited list, or falling in the full tank level (FTL) or buffer zone of water bodies do not get regularised. Over 25 lakh LRS applications pending for the last four years will be disposed of online as per the government’s new guidelines.

The HMDA denied reports in the media (not this newspaper) stating that it was mandatory to get a no-objection certificate from the revenue and irrigation departments and HYDRAA to secure layout or building permission. “There is no change in the process,” an official said.
