Hyderabad: In a contempt case regarding non-payment of salary to a sweeper for 26 years, the Telangana high court has cautioned the principal secretary, Home, either to comply with the court order in payment of salary or appear before it on Nov 27. Justice Jukanti Anil Kumar expressed displeasure over the attitude of the police authorities in not implementing the court order for six years regarding payment of salary to the sweeper.
The judge was dealing with a contempt case filed by Shaik Janmiya, who had worked as a sweeper at the Chilkur police station of Suryapet district between 1991 and 2018 and he was not paid salary. When he approached the high court in 2017, the court directed the home department to make the payment to him within four weeks.
As the orders were not complied, Janmiya filed a contempt petition. Justice Anil Kumar questioned the home department delayng in implementing the court orders and giving last chance to the department, directed to implement the orders by Nov 27 , otherwise the principal secretary, Home, to appear before the court.
