Warangal: The Kakatiya Medical College super speciality hospital is facing water shortage since Saturday causing immense hardship to patients and their attendants.
According to reports, the hospital depends upon the water supplied by the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) for all purposes and since corporation engineering officials stopped water supply to the area on Saturday due to repairs in Warangal Deshaipet filter bed, patients and their attendants are facing a lot of problems.
Sources say the corporation authorities reportedly informed the KMC officials in advance about the repair works planned at the Deshaipet filter bed, but the official did not take any measures to make alternative arrangements leading to shortage of water.
Since the hospital does not have wells or borewells to get water, the patients are facing severe hardship. The water is filled in the tank and supplied to all the wards of the hospital, and since repair is going on, there is no other means to fill the tank.
Dialysis patients were the most affected due to the stoppage of supply of water to the hospital. To safely perform a dialysis operation, a large quantity of high purity dialysis water is needed and since there is shortage of water in the hospital, dialysis patients were forced to return home without performing dialysis.
It is learnt that the hospital authorities requested the corporation officials to supply water through tankers to the hospital till the water supply begins, but the officials reportedly turned down their plea.
