
HYDERABAD: An advocate who was out on an early morning stroll accompanied by his pet was stabbed and robbed of his mobile phone by unidentified bike-borne suspects near the I Max on Tuesday morning.
The advocate, identified as Kalyan Vanshikar, received stab injuries in his ribs and on his left hand, said police.
According to police, the 48-year-old resident of Khairatabad was walking on the road near I Max as part of his daily routine. Two persons riding a black scooter approached him and started a conversation, inquiring about his pet dog.
As he was responding to them, one of them pulled out a knife and threatened Vanshikar, demanding that he give away his mobile phone.
As he resisted, a scuffle ensued, and in the process, the suspects stabbed him, robbed his mobile phone, and sped away.
Police said the suspects sped towards Necklace Road. They are verifying CCTVs at the spot and along their escape routes. A robbery case was registered and is under investigation, said an official from Khairatabad police station.
Meanwhile, Vanshikar is undergoing treatment in a private hospital and is said to be out of danger.
