Hyderabad: A man stabbed his wife to death and later set ablaze her body at their house at Bandlaguda near Chandrayangutta in the city on Monday night. The suspect later surrendered before the police.
According to the police, the suspect Fayaz Qureshi, (25), along with his wife Qamar Begum (23) and two children Hadiunnisa (5) and Junaid (3) stayed at a house in Hashamabad in Bandlaguda old city.
“Differences arose between the couple over small issue resulting in frequent fight between them. On Monday, night the couple had a fight during which Fayaz, took a knife and stabbed the woman to death. He then went out bought fuel in a bottle and doused the woman with the fuel and set her ablaze in the bedroom,” said Bandlaguda Inspector, K Satyanarayana.
The neighbours who noticed fire in the house informed the local police and started pouring water using buckets to douse the flames. The fire personnel and the police who inspected the room later found the body of the woman in the room. The two children were present in another room in the house.
The police later shifted the body for post-mortem examination to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary. Senior officials visited the scene in the night. Fayaz, later surrendered before the police.
A case is registered and investigation going on.
