The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance has been launched in India at Rs 1.95 crore. Bookings have already commenced nationwide, while deliveries will start early next year (possibly from April 2025). Following the S 63 E Performance and GT 63 S E Performance, it’s the third AMG plug-in hybrid offering from the German carmaker in the country. In India, it doesn’t have any direct rival.
Powering this performance sedan is a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, which generates 204bhp and 320Nm. This setup delivers a whopping 680bhp and 1,020Nm of torque, making it the most powerful 4-cylinder engine in the world. Mercedes claims that the C 63 S E Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.4 seconds. It comes with the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, which offers a drift mode.
The carmaker is also offering an AMG Driver’s package with the sedan, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 280kmph. There is also a 6.1kWh battery pack (weighing just 89 kg) that provides an electric-only range of 13km. Mercedes states that its battery has direct cooling cells that maintain temperature for optimal power delivery. Transmission duties are handled by a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The Mercedes C 63 S E Performance offers eight drive modes: Electric, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Battery Hold, RACE, Individual, and Slippery. There are also three different damping settings – Sport, Sport+, and Comfort.
Compared to its standard counterpart, the AMG C 63 S E Performance is 83mm longer and 76mm wider. It features an all-black interior theme with AMG-specific elements, including the steering wheel and AMG Performance seats. Additional features include carbon fibre interior trim, ventilated sports seats in Nappa leather, a 710W, 15-speaker Burmester sound system, a head-up display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, 7 airbags, and an ADAS suite.
