Hyderabad: A 22-year-old woman ended her life on Monday due to alleged harassment by a 29-year-old man from her neighbourhood in Indiramma Nagar in Begumpet.
G Sravanti was in her second year of BBA and her parents alleged that the suspect, Suresh, was harassing her for money.
The girl’s parents supply night lamps to vendors at weekly markets. On Monday they had returned home from work at 11.30 pm but found the house locked from the inside. When they broke open the doors, they found Sravanti in an unconscious state. They rushed her to a nearby private hospital where she was declared dead.
Quoting her parents, police said Suresh knew the girl for a very long time and in the past she had given him money. A few days ago, he had asked her for money again.
On a complaint from the parents, an abetment to suicide case was registered, Begupmet SI J Nagaraju said.
