A sub inspector of police was injured when a group of people attacked a police team comprising personnel of Habeebnagar police station and Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSANB), when they went to arrest a drug peddler at Mangar Basthi.

Hyderabad: A sub inspector of police was injured when a group of people attacked a police team comprising personnel of Habeebnagar police station and Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSANB), when they went to arrest a drug peddler at Mangar Basthi.
On specific information, a police team including sub inspector Shiva Kumar, went to Mangar Basti late Tuesday evening. The police identified a few persons and were taking them into custody when a group of people including women surrounded them.
In the melee, the suspects escaped from the spot. One of the persons from the mob comprising local people took a beer bottle and hit the sub inspector resulting in injuries. Following the attack, the police team reiterated from the spot.
On Wednesday evening, a 100 strong police contingent went to the area and conducted an area domination exercise. The police asked all the people who were involved in the attack to surrender themselves before the cops at Habeebnagar police station and face legal consequences.
Habeebnagar Inspector, T Ram Babu said a case is registered following the attack on the sub inspector and investigation is going on. “Soon all the suspects involved in the case will be arrested. We have identified the persons who attacked the police official,” said Ram Babu.
