Mahindra Thar Roxx 5 Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Mahindra Thar Roxx has scored a five-star safety rating in the latest round of Global NCAP crash tests. The lifestyle off-road SUV managed to score 31.09 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 for child passenger protection. In the front offset barrier test, testers rated the protection offered by the Thar Roxx to the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck, and upper legs as good. The protection offered to the driver’s chest and lower legs was rated as adequate.

With a score of 16 out of 16 points, the SUV provided good protection to the occupants in the side movable barrier and side pole impact tests. In the dynamic test with child restraint systems, the Thar Roxx scored 24 out of 24 points, 12 out of 12 points in CRS installation, and 9 out of 13 points in vehicle assessment tests.

Bharat NCAP tested the MX3 and AX5 L variants of the Mahindra Thar Roxx, which come equipped with front airbags, side head curtain airbags, side chest, and side pelvis airbags. Safety features such as electronic stability control, seat belt reminders, seat belt pretensioners, and load limiters are also on offer. The higher trims of the SUV are equipped with hill ascent and descent assist, a traction control system, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, rear disc brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system, automatic headlights and wipers, front parking sensors, electronic parking brake, blind spot monitor, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with two engine options – a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L diesel. The petrol motor, with manual and automatic gearboxes, delivers 162bhp with 330Nm and 177bhp with 380Nm, respectively. The diesel 4X2 variants offer 152bhp with 330Nm, while the diesel 4X4 trims return a claimed power of 175bhp and 370Nm of torque.
