Telangana Medical Association Urges Fee Reduction for MBBS Following New Government Guidelines |

T IMA seeks notification for MBBS fee reduction

Hyderabad: The Telangana branch of the Indian Medical Association has sought a formal notification for reduction of MBBS fees for the current batch from five years to four-and-a-half years, as announced by the state govt.
“During the academic year 2021-23, the govt, on the basis of recommendations from the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC), issued orders (GO No. 5 dated 27-1-2022) indicating that the total fee for the course (4.5 years) should be collected at the beginning of every academic year and in five instalments. Therefore, the fee fixed for the MBBS course should be collected for 4.5 years (nine semesters) and only at the beginning of the academic year,” IMA branch said in a letter to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences.
It further said: “The same was also clarified to private medical colleges (on Nov 16, 2022). In view of this, we request an official notification on this matter from the university, directing medical colleges to adhere strictly to the GO and collect fees for only four-and-a-half years at the beginning of the academic years in five equal instalments.”
IMA representatives said that college managements should not collect the fees in advance and not collect any additional tuition fees for detained/failed candidates apart from the 4.5 year tuition fee, urging that the GO be implemented with immediate effect.
