The Innova has properly spoiled us, thanks to the Ottomans and the 2nd row chairs sliding all the way back.
BHPian CEF_Beasts recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
Was back in Mumbai for a few days, and had some work in Pune. The family has become quite attached to the space and comfort the Innova offers, so instead of the X3 we decided to take the Innova to Pune. The backseat of the X3 is lamented for being too small and my mother even saying the GLC’s back seat was way better than the X3’s. Anyway the X3 was bought for the engine spec it had over the GLC 200, so couldn’t argue when it came to the comfort factor.
The Innova has properly spoiled us, thanks to the Ottomans and the 2nd row chairs sliding all the way back liberating a lot of legroom.
Leaving from home
Was staying at Sheraton Grand Bund Garden, I have visited this property when I was a kid and it was called Le Meriden back then. And I must say I loved how expansive the property is! Everything from the breakfast spread to the rooms were just great.
The Adaptive Cruise Control works flawlessly out on the Expressway but with cab drivers hogging the right lane at 80kmph it gets really frustrating and have to constantly keep changing lanes, with the car accelerating to the set speed and again slowing down for the next slow moving vehicle till you again have to change lanes.
Switched to Power Mode on the Expressway, here the engine powers the wheels for most of the part and going into EV mode only when you lift your foot off the accelerator. This has become my go to mode out on the Expressway.
The Hybrid powertrain ensures your fuel economy figures are always great even on the expressways
For the first time ever, just after crossing the toll while entering Pune, were stopped by the cops and told to open the boot. Was told to open the bags for checking and they checked what was inside, didn’t leave the false boot floor below which lies the tool kit and some empty space. Maybe election time approaching + Innova + almost black colour of the car was the reason for them stopping us, considering this Toyota has also become a Politicos favourite.
The ride quality is good for most of the part, except when an unusually large pothole appears and the low side profile of the 18 inch tires crashes into it.
Form over Function, have a look at the wheel size of the 3rd Gen Innova vs the 1st Gen Innova!!
Last but not the least, here are some pictures.
With the Grand Father of SUVs, absolutely dwarfing the Innova
Have started liking the car from this angle
The Blackish Ageha Glass Flakes colour in the night looks just like any regular black colour
Have completed just 2800kms in 4 months, considering my dad has started taking the X3 to office as well.
Overall I’m really impressed at how Toyota has packaged this car! Only negatives I can think of are the low profile tires, cheap plastics across the cabin and a little more power on tap would’ve been ideal.
