Telangana Caste Survey Achieves 44% Coverage as Deadline Approaches | Hyderabad News

T’gana caste survey covers 51 lakh homes so far, 44% target achieved

Hyderabad: Amidst a mixed response of cooperation and resistance, enumerators have so far covered 51.24 lakh households for the socio-economic, educational, political and caste survey in the state.
Officials said they were confident of completing the survey a few days before the Nov 30 deadline set by chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
‘1.16cr households target’
Planning department officials said about 44% of the total 1.16 crore target households have been covered in the state, including 6.94 lakh families (27.7%) in Greater Hyderabad limits.
Sources in the department told TOI that more houses were covered in the rural areas compared to the towns in the state.
This was due to non-availability of people when enumerators reach houses in urban areas as many couples and parents are in offices and children in schools or jobs. However, officials maintained that every house will be covered in the next two weeks.
On its part, the one-man Busani Venkateshwara Rao dedicated BC Commission will start holding public meetings in the districts from Saturday.
It will hold public hearing in Nalgonda collectorate on Saturday, in Khammam collectorate on Sunday, and Mahabubnagar collectorate on Monday between 11.30 am and 3 pm respectively.
‘Report to HC on Dec 8′
The dedicated BC Commission has decided to utilise the data collected through public hearings by the existing BC commission headed by G Niranjan. The dedicated commission wants to complete the exercise of fixing BC reservations in local bodies by the first week of December as the govt has to submit local body quota report to high court on Dec 8.
BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar appealed to the people to cooperate with the enumerators and also sought to assure that the survey was meant to help them and not exclude or deprive anyone of any govt welfare schemes or other benefits.
The BC welfare minister also warned the Opposition against provoking and instigating people against the survey.
Data secure: Officials
After allegations of caste census survey application forms being found scattered on the roadside near Rekula Bavi crossroads to Yellampeta road in Medchal went viral on social media, officials said that all the filled-in forms were secured.
