Diljit Dosanjh hilariously alters lyrics to avoid mention of alcohol at Hyderabad concert, fans react. Watch

Ahead of his Hyderabad concert on November 15, singer Diljit Dosanjh was instructed by the Telangana government to refrain from performing songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence. The directive came in light of past instances where such themes were part of his setlist. In response, Diljit made adjustments to his lyrics, much to the amusement of his fans.

Clips from the concert, where Diljit can be seen rewording lyrics that previously referenced alcohol, have been circulating on social media. In one such video, the singer replaces the line “Tainu teri daaru ch pasand aa Lemonade” with “Tainu teri coke ch pasand aa Lemonade” while performing his hit song Lemonade.

In another clip, Diljit sang “5 taara hotel ch” instead of “5 Taara thekke utthe” as he performed the song 5 Taara. The singer was seen laughing as he tweaked the lyrics of his songs.

Fans praised Diljit for entertaining his audience while adhering to the government’s directives. One Instagram user wrote, “The way he and his team tweaked the lyrics last minute to adhere to the legal guidelines is worth applauding. He proved that he is the Greatest Of All Time (sic).” Another user commented, “Loved how he did everything without losing his signature touch! Love him! (sic).” A comment on the clip read, “Just love the way he is using words so carefully in his songs for people. Love this pure soul (sic).”

Hyderabad was the third venue in the India leg of Diljit’s ongoing Dil-Luminati tour, which began with his performance in New Delhi on October 26. He will next perform in Ahmedabad.
