Eight arrested for making, selling adulterated ginger-garlic paste


Hyderabad: The sleuths of the commissioner’s task force, north zone team, along with Bowenpally police, raided a godown in Bowenpally and arrested eight persons involved in manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger-garlic paste.

The teams raided a unit in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, Old Bowenpally and seized a huge quantity of unhygienic and adulterated ginger-garlic paste along with other indiscriminate material, all worth Rs 4.50 lakh.

Mohd Sameer Ansari (33), manager of Sony gold ginger and garlic paste, Bowenpally, Mohd Gulfraz (32) distributor of Sony gold ginger and garlic paste, Mohd Mukthaar (27) cook cum manager, and Ranjith Kumar (19), other workers were arrested during the raid, Y V S Sudheendra, DCP task force, stated in a press release on Sunday.

The police seized 1500 kilograms of aldurated garlic paste, 55 kg citric acid, a mixer cum grinder machine, a weighing machine, 12 bags of damaged raw garlic, each weighing 40 kg, all worth Rs 4,50,000, Sudheendra said.

The arrested persons were making adulterated ginger and garlic paste in unhygienic condition, mixing Citric acid for preservation in tubs, labeling, stamping, and then selling in the market, DCP said.

The accused were handed over to Bowenpally police and cases in crime number 636 of 2024 under section.274, 275,318(4) were registered. The accused, along with seized property, were produced before the magistrate, for judicial remand.
