Guntur Mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu Faces Legal Action for Derogatory Remarks Against TDP and Jana Sena Leaders | Vijayawada News

Guntur mayor booked for derogatory comments on TDP, Jana Sena leaders

Visakhapatnam: The Arundelpet police in Guntur district registered a case against Guntur mayor and YSRCP leader Kavati Manohar Naidu for his alleged derogatory remarks against TDP and Jana Sena leaders in 2023.
The police said that the case was registered following a complaint by TDP leader K Srinivasa Rao. In his complaint, Rao mentioned that Manohar Naidu made derogatory remarks against chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan.
In Sept 2023, TDP leaders had called for a state-wide bandh following the arrest of TDP president Chandrababu Naidu. During the protests, Manohar Naidu intervened when TDP and JSP activists reportedly forced shopkeepers to shut down their shops and made objectionable comments (used unparliamentary language) against Pawan Kalyan and Naidu. It created a furore in the political circles and JSP activists had even staged protests against the remarks made by the Guntur mayor.
Though the TDP and JSP leaders had approached the police to file a case against the mayor for his hate speech, the police did not register a case.
With the recent complaint by TDP leader Srinivasa Rao, the police registered a case against Guntur Mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu under relevant sections of IT Act and the investigation is on.
In another incident, a law-student from Vizag city Satyala Anjanapriya lodged a complaint with Vizag city police against YSRCP leader and former Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani for alleged defamatory and abusive comments he made against TDP chief Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. The Three-Town police in Vizag city registered a case against Nani and the investigation is on.
The Palnadu district police on Sunday arrested Suresh Reddy, who was working as YSRCP social-media coordinator of Gurazala assembly constituency. The police arrested Suresh Reddy for allegedly sexually harassing a woman. Based on a complaint from the victim, the police registered a case against Suresh Reddy, arrested him and produced before the magistrate which sent him on judicial remand. According to the locals, Suresh Reddy is the henchman of former Gurazala MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy and he had been involved in many illegal activities.
