Two from city drown in Nizamabad lake

Hyderabad: Two persons from the city, who went on a pilgrimage to Nizamabad, met a tragic end after they drowned in a lake on Sunday. Police said Wasiq, 32, and Yakub, 34, from Chanchalguda, drowned in a lake.
Six persons started from the city boarded a train to reach Nizamabad in the early hours of Sunday. They went to Manchiappa village and visited a local dargah. After offering prayers, they went to a nearby lake in village.
While four persons were on the bank, Wasiq and Yakub got into the water. Unaware of the depth, they went deep into the water despite not knowing how to swim. As they started to drown, one of the persons on the bank tried to save them but couldn’t.
Immediately, they alerted police, who rushed local swimmers. They brought the bodies out. Wasiq was an accountant with a bakery, while Yakub was a technician in a mobile phone shop. “Once a year, both Wasiq and Yakub visit the dargah to offer prayers,” police said.
