Hyderabad: Telangana is experiencing the winter chill as temperatures continue to drop across the state. On Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported below-normal minimum temperatures in parts of several districts.
A yellow alert has been issued for Adilabad, Nirmal, Asifabad, Mancherial, Kamareddy, and Medak, signalling colder days ahead. Veernapally in Rajanna Sircilla recorded the state’s lowest actual temperature at 13.9° Celsius, while the minimum temperature hit a 12.0° Celsius-mark. Within the city, Patancheru registered the low-est temperature at 12.4° Celsius. “Minimum temperatures are steadily declining across Telangana. This trend is expected to intensify through December and January, with some districts likely to record temperatures as low as 6-7° Celsius during peak winter,” said an official from IMD Hyderabad.
The northern districts, particularly those bordering Maharashtra, are feeling the brunt of the cold. Areas like Asifabad and Nirmal consistently reported temperatures hovering around 10-12° Celsius over the past week.
According to the IMD, these cold conditions are expected to persist for the next few weeks, with further drops in temperature anticipated as winter deepens. Residents are urged to take precautions and prepare for the biting cold ahead.
