VISAKHAPATNAM: A 20-year-old Law student was allegedly sexually assaulted by her classmates, including her former boyfriend in Vizag city. The heinous crime came to light after the traumatised victim girl attempted suicide following persistent torment form the accused persons, subsequently, she approached the police to file a complaint against the accused.
The victim and one of the accused shared both a classroom of a private college in the city and a previous romantic relationship. He sexually assaulted her at an isolated place in the city after deceiving her with the excuse of discussing their relationship in August this year.
The events took a serious turn a few days after the incident, when he persuaded the victim girl to meet with him. Subsequently, he took her to his friend’s house at Daba Gardens locality in Vizag city, where he again sexually assaulted her.
The victim’s boyfriend’s friends (three persons, who are also classmates of the victim), who arrived in the house, filmed the intimate moments between the victim and her boyfriend. Later, the trio blackmailed her with the videos and sought sexual favour. When she informed her boyfriend about being blackmailed by the three others, he chose to take his friends’ side and supported them. The trio also allegedly sexually assaulted her in the house and again they filmed the assault.
The trio allegedly coerced her by threatening to circulate her personal videos if she refused to their sexual demands. Unable to bear the sexual harassment from the trio, the victim attempted to end her life a few days ago. However, her father managed to save her. Later, she narrated the entire episode to her father.
Based on the complaint from the victim, the two-town police registered a case on Monday night. Vizag city police chief Shankabratha Bagchi said they have arrested all the four accused and further investigation is on.
