Tirupati: The principal of Ekalavya model residential school (EMR) at Kodavalur in Nellore district was transferred after the food poisoning incident reported on Monday.
Vishnu Pratap Shukla was transferred on grounds of negligence on Tuesday.
Shukla will move to the state EMRS society. T Vishnu Priya is the new in-charge principal.
About 25 students who consumed food at EMR hostel, fell sick and were taken to various private hospitals on Monday night.
Kovur TDP MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy went to the hostel at around 10.30 pm on Monday and enquired about the incident with the students.
She also interacted with the hospitalized students and directed the officials of the district administration to ensure best treatment is provided to the affected students.
The MLA expressed her displeasure over the poor standards at the hostel.
Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy had inspected the EMR hostel at Kodavalur in August. He spoke to Union minister of tribal affairs Jual Oram and later Nellore ITDA officials visited the school and directed the principal to initiate measures to improve the amenities as well as the quality of food and other essentials provided to the students.
