The kind of crowds that turned up for Pushpa 2 event in Bihar could be a measure of the kind of mass hype surrounding the film in the Hindi belt. In this regard, discussions have begun about the Hindi openings of Pushpa 2.
With a Rs 50 crore nett opening, Baahubali 2 is the biggest Telugu opener in the Hindi belt thus far. Overall, SRK’s Jawan is the biggest opener with Rs 65 crores nett opening up North.

Now, considering Pushpa 2’s penetration and the sequel advantage, is there really a chance that the film would wipe away the record set by SRK with Jawan – Rs 65 crore.
SRK is the biggest Hindi superstar in India and is particularly prevalent in the Hindi belt. If his record is being broken in the Hindi belt by a South Indian hero, the chances are that it would lead the big heads of Bollywood restless, if they aren’t already.

As things stand, it might be a bit of a stretch for Pushpa 2 to touch Jawan’s tally in Hindi. But again, all the film needs is some sort of a catalyst movement at the last minute to break the shackles and bombard the Hindi belt.
It could be another trailer, the hyped item song or anything for that matter. If this box is ticked, then it shouldn’t be too tough for Pushpa 2 to break SRK’s record.

And when that happens, it could well and truly mean that Telugu cinema has taken over Indian cinema.
