Medico suffering from OCD attempts suicide, survives

Hyderabad: A first year student at a private medical college in Mittapally, Siddipet, attempted suicide on college campus upset with her obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The incident happened three days ago but came to light on Wednesday after which cops started an inquiry.
The girl (19), from LB Nagar, had joined the college a week ago. She was already undergoing treatment for OCD. Upset with this condition, she left a note and took the extreme step, but survived with a severe leg injury. The note said that she wanted to study but could not due to her health condition.
“Believed medicines could cure me, but they didn’t. It’s been 7 years stressing over due to OCD,” the note said.
Alerted by the college management, her parents rushed to the college and shifted her to Hyderabad for treatment. On Wednesday, police visited the college, enquired with the students and also contacted the girl’s parents.
“We have verified the medical records of the girl and other details. There is no suspicion or foul play behind the incident. A detailed inquiry into the incident is underway. The girl is currently recovering at a hospital in Hyderabad,” said Siddipet ACP Madhu.
