Drove down to Poona and back over the long weekend – and also celebrated one year of owning the Ioniq 5.
I must say I have not driven the car as much as I would have liked to – just 2 trips to Poona, one to Gujarat and 3 or 4 to Lonavala – aggregating to under 2500 km. Most of the other 12,000+ km the car has driven in one year (we are at 14,700 km as we speak) has been driven by my driver – with the car used as a school ferry and for all trips to the distant suburbs.
Also had my first ever fast charging experience at a ChargeZone charger outside my hotel in Poona. Compared to the Tesla experience in the USA, it was clunky. I had to download an app, and the app told me to book a slot. But when I went to the charger at the appointed time, both guns were occupied. Obviously the booking has no meaning. Went back once the slot was free (about 15 minutes later), and had selected a quick 15 KW top up. For whatever reason, it took a while to start charging – my first attempt using the start charging button on the app failed, and I had to remove and refit the gun and enter the code in the charger before it started. Thereafter charging was smooth. It consumed over 16 KW to top up 15 KW in my car, which took the SOC from 53% to 74%, and took just 15 minutes for the same. Also cost over ₹27 per unit including GST. As it happened this was unnecessary – even though we had to drop off a friend in Mulund and then return to Parel (which added over 25 km), the car still had a 45% SOC when I reached home.
