Hyderabad: A man embroiled in a land row realised to his shock that his dead father was also named in the FIR by police in Narsapur in Medak. The name was finally removed after the family protested and also gave representation to higher officials.
The FIR was registered over a dispute in Sept and names Pahloth Vittal, who had died in 2018, as the fourth accused.
“We were surprised to see my father’s name being mentioned in the FIR,” said his son Pahloth Anjayeulu (29) of Lachiram Thanda in Narayanpur village.
He said the family was trying to protect 31 guntas of assigned land and the complaint was filed against them when they resisted removal of some structures on their land.
Anjaneyulu said they tried to approach senior officers in the district to complain that the case against him and two family members was filed without local police verifying the facts. Anjaneyulu also gave a representation to the collector on Sept 30, complaining that police were refusing to hear their side of the story and going only by the complaint they had received.
Narsapur SI Lingam told TOI that the FIR was registered based on the complaint.
“But when we found out during our investigation a month ago that the fourth suspect in the FIR was not alive, we removed his name,” he said.
