Hyderabad: The transport department is exploring the possibility of setting up EV charging stations at various strategic locations across the state, including the secretariat and petrol pumps along the national and state highways.
There are plans to set up charging stations at collectorates, markets, petrol pumps, RTC bus stops and other public and private facilities.
Currently, EV charging facilities are operational at a few RTC depots in the city, a bus station in Suryapet, LB stadium in Hyderabad and the cab parking area at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, with several prominent star hotels also offering charging facilities.
Officials are optimistic that by setting up charging stations at places like the secretariat and collectorates, a large number of employees will be able to charge their vehicles during working hours. Similarly, if these stations are placed at shopping malls and luxury hotels, vehicle owners will be able to conveniently charge their cars while they shop, dine or stay at these venues.
