Andhra Pradesh Unveils Ambitious Tourism Policy 2024-2029 to Boost Investments and Job Creation | Vijayawada News


New tourism policy to draw investors, create jobs

Vijayawada: State govt on Friday tabled a new tourism policy in the Assembly aiming to attract significant investments, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs and creating employment for the youth. The policy aims to provide industry status to the tourism sector, aligning it with global standards and enhancing its economic impact across the state.
Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh tabled Andhra Pradesh’s tourism policy for 2024-2029 with a vision to tap into the state’s full potential. He outlined the state’s vision to transform into a globally renowned tourist destination. The policy includes developing temple, eco, adventure, wellness, and agri-tourism circuits. It is expected to generate about 25,000 crore in investments under PPPs, targeting 20 percent of state employment through tourism.
To attract tourists, including foreigners, AP govt is looking to increase the number of hotel rooms to 10,000 from the existing 3,500. It is also considering to promote adventure, eco, village, wellness, and tourism in the state. Durgesh said that they have identified seven destinations- Visakhapatnam, Araku Valley, Rajahmundry, Amaravati, Srisailam, Gandikota and Tirupati, to develop anchor hubs under destination, diversification, and development to woo tourists.
