Hyderabad: SR Nagar police arrested two persons and seized 3.5 kg of ganja from their possession in Balkampet late Thursday. The accused have been identified as Arepati Harikrishna and Jaba Venkata Naveen Kumar, both hailing from Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, who came to the city to earn a living.
Police have also identified five customers who regularly bought ganja from the accused. The customers include a pharmacist working for a retail chain of a reputed corporate group and a graphic designer.
Police said the duo had been living in a rented room at Balkampet under SR Nagar police station for the past eight months and earned their living by selling ice cream from pushcarts. They procured ganja from a supplier in Tuni of AP and supplied it in small sachets to consumers here for up to Rs 1,000 for 10 grams.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided their room on Thursday night, seized the ganja and arrested them. They were sent to judicial custody on Friday. Police are in the process of tracing their customers for further investigation.
