HYDERABAD: A student from Hyderabad pursuing his Master’s in the US died of a gunshot wound from his licensed hunting rifle on his birthday at home in Atlanta, Georgia. The bullet had pierced 23-year-old Palvai Aryan Reddy‘s chest, but it was not clear if it was a case of accidental misfire.
The gunshot incident occurred Nov 13 at Aryan’s home in Atlanta but his body arrived in Hyderabad on Friday. He was studying at Kansas State University in Georgia and had arrived in the US in Dec 23.
While his friends were around at the birthday party, Aryan went to a room and a while later they heard a gunshot. When they rushed inside, Aryan was found lying with the bullet wound. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead.
Aryan had purchased his licensed hunting rifle in Aug this year and had apparently not told his family about it. Growing up, Aryan was reportedly interested in joining the Army but chose a different path at the insistence of his family.
Aryan’s parents, Sudarshan Reddy and Geetha, declined to speak about his death, requesting privacy in their time of grief.
