Hyderabad: With fun games such as the 100-metre run, ball throw, target hitting, obstacle run, cycling, and yoga, an inter-school competition was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Park, Manikonda, on Sunday to celebrate the potential of children with special needs.
Over 150 children from 12 special needs schools participated in the event organised by FitFormula, which aimed to promote physical activity and boost confidence among differently-abled children.
The children were delighted to take part in events tailor-made for their needs. The organisers took special interest in ensuring that each child was taken care of with either accessibility equipment or personal support.
“It’s heart-warming to see my child participate in sports activities just like any other child,” said Aditya Ganti, a parent. “Usually, special children feel left out during regular sports events, but here they’re learning what competing means, making friends, and most importantly, having fun, ” he added.
“Such events enable us parents to find a community of our own, where we can share our collective lived experiences,” said Ganti.
FitFormula founder Vinod Paswan, who organised the event, emphasised the importance of inclusive sports activities. “Our goal is to break the barriers that exclude special needs children from sports. Every child deserves the opportunity to play, compete, and experience the joy of physical activity. We’ve designed these events keeping in mind different abilities andensuring everyone can participate safely,” he said.
