Hyderabad: The Special Sessions Court in LB Nagar on Monday sentenced 23-year-old Varikuppala Mahesh to 20 years rigorous imprisonment in a rape-cum-Pocso Act case. The Yacharam police had arrested Mahesh earlier this year in Crime No. 66. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 and awarded victim compensation Rs.5 lakh to the victim.

Hyderabad: Customs officials at the Shamshabad airport caught two women who were trying to smuggle two exotic snakes into India. The women had arrived on a flight from Bangkok, and had hidden the snakes in a basket. On finding the snakes during a check, officers rescued the reptiles.

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old delivery agent, Swagath, died allegedly by suicide at his house, Malkajgiri police said on Monday. His father Trilochan had come to city 18 years ago and was doing odd jobs. Police said Swagath had dropped his mother at her workplace in the morning. When she called him in the evening to pick her up, Swagath said he would send one of his friends.
When she reached home, she noticed the main door open. When she went inside, she found Swagath dead. He was confirmed dead at a hospital. Police booked a case and began investigations.
Man Gets 3 Years of Imprisonment for Sexually Assaulting Minor
Hyderabad: The LB Nagar Special Judge of the fast-track court of Rangareddy district sentenced Mohammed Zian of Balapur to three years of rigorous imprisonment on Monday for sexually assaulting a minor in 2020.The case was registered and investigated by the Balapur police after a complaint by the victim’s parents. The court imposed a fine of Rs.5,000, and awarded the victim compensation of Rs.1 lakh.
