The ZX-10R superbike replaces my friend’s CBR 1000 RR Fireblade.

Ah..almost 2 months of no update, but the 2 months have been pretty eventful as far as weekend rides goes and the main reason I hadn’t posted anything was because of the parting away of a specific bike from a regular in this thread and a new entry of a bike which will be a regular in this thread and spoiler alert you are going to see a lot of this said bike in the next few posts too.
I am talking about Xaos636’s fireblade leaving his garage but thankfully it’s not gone out of sight, still remains in our circle. You can read details about that here.
What comes in instead is the 2025MY ZX10R. That brings me to the reason why posts have not been seen here, I have been waiting on Xaos636 to become free from his busy schedule of being lazy to post on his thread. Which he finally did.
P.S.: This post is going to be a fairly green one with very less of the R1, please don’t mind it.
Anyway, so let me take this post to congratulate him again on the acquisition of the ZX10R.
Of course, there was no way I was missing the delivery of the bike.
The first meet
While I wasn’t a fan of the colorway of the bike when the first photos popped up over social media once I saw it in person oh boy did it change my mind! It just looks crazy good, photos don’t do it justice. Now that almost a month has passed and on multiple rides, we have been to, almost everyone has the same thing to say “Did not expect it to look this good in person, the photos online do it no justice”.
She just looks menacing!
Anyway, was able to spend a good amount of time on the 10R. Rode it from Cochin to Palakkad right after the delivery day before Xaos636 rode it to his home in Calicut.
And Xaos636 being himself rode it to Bangalore within just 2 days or so because the run-in had to be completed of course.
Now while the ride to Bangalore did not really fully hit the run-in miles, it still had a couple of hundred km to take care of, so I took the duty on myself while he was out of town to complete the run-in period. Considering it was run-in the route taken was Bengaluru-Anchetty-Hogenekkal-Dharmapuri-Krishnagiri-Bengaluru. Had a friend on the 4R too for the ride and got to spend sometime on the 4R as well, will come to that on another post maybe.
So I picked up the bike from his place and rode it back to my place ready to complete the run-in miles the very next day.
The 2 meet for the first time marking the first of many many rides to be done together.
This was perfect because it was not just straight highway roads where run-in would have been boring, instead got to ride through tight corners, varying landscapes and scenery, and of course different types of roads as well from ultra-smooth tarmac to broken and mucky/slushy roads. A proper shake-down test too was made possible because of this. Btw, all this has transpired over the span of 10-12 days time.
Here are a few photos from the ride.
Now that that was done, a couple of days later got back on the R1 and accompanied the 10R for its first service, and during the ride back a new problem reared its ugly head on the R1, while I was on a flyover that had a sweeping flowing turn, I suddenly lost power while riding and the bike stood up mid-corner and went right towards the barrier of the flyover on the right most lane, it was a left sweeping corner and I was in the center lane. It all happened in a split second, luckily I was within speed limits so was able to manhandle the bike just in time to avoid a nasty crash and potentially have gotten myself flung off over the flyover, could have been nasty. Took a couple of minutes to re-coup and was trying to figure out what had happened. The bike was running fine but the moment the power got cut almost felt like the bike ran out of petrol, I say almost for a reason, which I’ll explain in the posts ahead.
Anyway, I chalked it out to maybe old/ bad fuel as the last refuel I had done from the previous ride was from a pump which I never use as it was mid-ride to a direction which I don’t usually go and moreover, it was not the regular XP95/XP100 the bike gets. So I directly went to Highlander and bought myself 2 bottles of Liqui Moly 4T additive shooter, which does a decent job of cleaning out the injectors and the fuel system in general.
While I am not a fan of using additives, in a pinch like this where I had no time to get the complete fuel system removed and cleaned properly, this had to do for now. Moreover, I had the weekend ride coming up in just 2 days’ time.
More on this in the next post.
Cheers
Krishna
