Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is all set to enter the electric two-wheeler segment with the Activa electric scooter tomorrow (i.e., 27th November 2024). It will compete with the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Hero Vida, Ola S1, and Bajaj Chetak. While its prices will be officially announced tomorrow, it is expected to cost between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Multiple teasers of the upcoming Honda electric scooter have revealed some intriguing details. Let’s take a look at them.
Battery Setup
Exact battery specifications and range details are still under wraps. However, the two-wheeler maker has confirmed that the electric scooter will feature a removable battery setup with the option of battery charging at a swap station. This means customers will be able to remove a latch to take out the battery, replace it with a charged one, and secure it back in place. Honda has been testing its battery swap stations in Bengaluru and has plans to expand to other major cities.
The Honda Activa electric scooter will have a twin-battery pack with a capacity of 1.3 kWh, mounted in the boot space. However, there will be no under-seat storage space. Riders will have the option to buy a top box accessory for additional storage. The charging port will be located near the footboard and will feature a plug-and-play type charger. It will support both onboard charging via a charging socket at home or public places and battery swapping.
Suspension & Braking System
The Activa e-scooter is based on the CUV platform, which features conventional telescopic forks and twin rear shocks for suspension. Braking power is provided by a 190mm front disc and 110mm rear drum brakes. The CUV e rides on 12-inch front and rear alloy wheels and offers a seat height of 765mm. Its ground clearance is rated at 270mm.
Features On Offer
The lower variants of the Honda Activa electric scooter will come with a 5-inch colour LCD screen, while a 7-inch TFT display will be reserved for the higher variant. The TFT display will show two riding modes – Standard and Sport. The Standard mode offers a claimed range of around 104 km on a single charge. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, a reverse mode, music control, navigation, and two trip meters. The new Honda electric scooter will also have a wide, long seat, suitable for two riders.
