Vijayawada: Police registered one Pagadam Siva Reddy’s complaint of getting defrauded of 34 lakh by his relative Munnam Ankireddy who promised him a nursing job in the Indian Army.
The victim from Marripudi village in Bapatla district accused his relative, who was serving in the Army, to have duped 34 lakh for getting the former a job there.
Siva Reddy said that Ankireddy had filed false cases against him when confronted and has threatened his family.
He filed a complaint at a Spandana program on Monday, seeking return of the money and protection for his family. Siva Reddy filed a petition at the district police office during a public grievance redressal forum on Monday, alleging that Munnam Ankireddy, a relative from Thulasinagar in Kavoori panchayat, had deceived him. Ankireddy, who is a reportedly employed in the Army, allegedly took the money in multiple instalments, promising to secure Siva Reddy a special nursing position in the Armed Forces.
In his complaint, Siva Reddy revealed that he was called to Visakhapatnam several times under the guise of job processing but later realised the promises were false. When he confronted Ankireddy, the latter allegedly retaliated at Ponnuru police station in Guntur district.
Siva Reddy explained that his family sold land and borrowed money in hopes of securing the promised job. Now, burdened by debt, he claimed that his family is facing severe financial distress and threats from Ankireddy. The victim urged the authorities to ensure his family’s safety and demanded the return of the 34 lakh. The cops registered the complaint and assured an investigation into the matter.
