The Tata Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan were first introduced in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Over eight years in the market, both models have witnessed multiple updates, including facelifts, feature enhancements, and the addition of variants such as the NRG, the performance-focused JTP, CNG options, and EV versions. At a recently concluded investor presentation, Tata Motors confirmed that the Tiago and Tigor will receive another midlife update in the financial year 2025.
What to Expect from the Midlife Update?
Currently, there is no detailed information about the updates planned for the new Tata Tiago and Tigor. However, subtle design changes are expected. The interior may feature new trims, upholstery, and additional features. The engines are expected to remain the same, with both models continuing to use the 1.2L Revotron petrol engine paired with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. This petrol unit delivers a claimed 86PS at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 3,300rpm. Read: Tata Sierra SUV Final Model Leaked
Additionally, the Tata Tiago and Tigor are offered with a 1.2L CNG setup, which produces 73PS at 6,000rpm and 95Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. The CNG variants are available only with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Generational Shift Expected
The Tiago hatchback and Tigor sedan are likely to witness a generational upgrade by the end of 2026 or 2027. The all-new models are expected to adopt a new platform, offering significantly enhanced styling and premium features to remain competitive.
Market Position and Pricing
In the entry-level hatchback segment, the Tata Tiago directly rivals the Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The Tigor, on the other hand, competes against the new Maruti Dzire and the Honda Amaze. Currently, the Tata Tiago is priced between ₹5.65 lakh and ₹8.90 lakh, while the Tigor is available in the range of ₹6 lakh to ₹9.40 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
