Hyderabad: The arrest of an accused involved in a series of murder cases in Gujarat led to the detection of a woman’s murder case reported by Secunderabad railway police two days ago.
Rahul Jat, 30, was arrested by Gujarat police on Monday in connection with the rape and murder of a teenager at a railway station reported two weeks ago.
During interrogation, he also confessed to killing Ramanamma, 46, in Manuguru Express and robbing cash and a mobile phone from her. Railway police are in the process of arresting him and bring him on a prisoner transfer warrant.
During interrogation, Rahul confessed to killing four more women, including Ramanamma, and robbing them by befriending them in trains and at railway stations. Gujarat police communicated the same to Secunderabad railway police and also about his arrest and subsequent judicial remand.
According to Secunderabad Govt Railway Police, when the Manuguru Express arrived at Secunderabad station two days ago, the railway staff while checking the coaches found the body of Ramanamma.
Police said Ramanamma, hailing from Toranagallu in Karnataka’s Ballari district, boarded the train at Toranagallu.
She was travelling to Hyderabad to meet her relatives in the city. She boarded the ladies’ coach, but her body was found in the Divyangjan coach.
Based on the injuries on her body, police registered a murder case and started an investigation. Meanwhile, on Monday, Gujarat police arrested Rahul Jat in connection with a murder at Udvada railway station.
