Skoda Auto is all set to tap into the sub-4-metre SUV segment with the all-new Kylaq early next year. While its official bookings will begin on 2nd December, select Skoda dealers have already started accepting pre-bookings for the vehicle. The Skoda Kylaq has created a buzz among buyers with its highly competitive prices, starting from Rs 7.89 lakh. Design Explained
The Kylaq carries its own identity, though it shares many design elements and features with the Kushaq midsize SUV. Upfront, it features the signature butterfly-shaped grille and split LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The SUV comes equipped with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and wraparound LED taillamps connected via a black strip featuring the ‘Skoda’ moniker. The Skoda Kylaq is a 5-seater SUV, measuring 3,995mm in length, 1,783mm in width, and 1,619mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,566mm. The carmaker claims that its new subcompact SUV offers a class-leading boot space of 446 litres.
Work-Like Interior
The interior of the new Skoda Kylaq strongly resembles that of the Kushaq. It has a similar double-layer dashboard, touch-based climate control panel, and two-spoke steering wheel. The subcompact SUV features a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats, 6-way powered driver and co-driver seats, and a single-pane sunroof. The standard safety kit of the Kylaq includes six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and a rear-view camera.
Powered by Turbo Petrol
The new Skoda compact SUV is powered by a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine, borrowed from the Kushaq. This gasoline motor delivers a claimed power output of 115PS and 178Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
