The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Jeddah saw some of the big names going unsold. Leading that list is former Australia opener David Warner, who also captained Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden IPL title in 2016. But having retired from international cricket, the 38-year-old left-hander found no takers at the two-day auction.
But Warner is not the only high-profile cricketers who missed out on an IPL contract. Also in the unsold list are New Zealand’s Kane Williamson & Darly Mitchell, India’s all-rounder Shardul Thakur & fast bowler Umesh Yadav, England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow and many more.
Such is the quality of players in the list that an ‘Unsold XI‘ can challenge any of the 10 teams.
Timesofindia.com put together a playing XI of the unsold names, with Williamson as the skipper.
