The first five things were done in a jiffy. I grossly underestimated the complexity of side-step Installation.

Spent a very enjoyable sunday morning doing what I love the most. Killing time tinkering on the car. What made it even special is that I had a few essential modifications and upgrades planned for the car and those parcels had all reached just in time.
Missus being busy at a wedding ceremony, I had all the time in the world to get my ratchets and spanners out. I had the following in my to do list.
1. Putting a cover on the key fob.
2. Screen protector for the infotainment system.
3. GFX mats.
4. LED bulb for the boot light.
5. Topping up washer fluid.
6. Installation of M-Tek Matrix side steps.
The first five things were done in a jiffy. I grossly underestimated the complexity of side step Installation. It took a real test of my DIY skills and patience.
But before getting to the technical part; I would like to share the purchase experience of those steps and the GFX mats. I got them from a store called Dolphinaccessories.com.
The best part is that I got to bargain hard and get some considerable discounts. The trick here is to contact the seller directly over mail and watsapp. Most of these ecom sites have the watsapp feature enabled in them. I shared few screen shots and youtube links of similar products which were priced lower than their merchandise. They immediately created special discount coupons and gave a total of Rs 1347/- off.
Now to get on with the installation, I had a tough time following the printed instruction manual. I referred youtube videos and got to work on my own. I will attach a few pictures for clarity. I must confess that it is an entirely different world once you are under the car.
The first clamp took a lot of time to be installed since I was trying to figure out ways to get the job done without any casualties. It is a new car after all. Even a tiny scratch or a creak of a bolt wrenched my heart.
However, the battle was finally won after a couple of hours of rolling under the car. I should have had the underbody washed before I started the project. I was covered in dust and loose sand by the time I was done. Protective eyewear would have helped a lot.
Anyways, the steps have really accentuated the looks of the car now. Ingress and egress have become so much easier now. My five year old kiddo could climb into the car all by himself. Earlier he needed someone to pull him in. The steps are pretty solid and can easily take my weight. Cleaning the roof now has become so easy. A must needed item for the Jimny. Maruti should provide this as an accessory instead of the useless plastic tid bits.
