BHPian SnS_12 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Fixing the previous owner’s/mechanics mistakes A bike be it a single owner or a multiple owner bike the quality of work done it what makes the difference. The RZ in that respect had definitely seen better days and we are still fixing/correcting multiple wrongs done over the years. While checking the frame closely we found out that the main stand had a different size pin which was causing it to move while not in use and standing in one place also the swing arm had been messed up and was not moving freely on the swingarm axle. Further, considering the treatment the bike had received we just took a sneak peek into the cylinder through the manifold only to find out the right cylinder sleeve and piston had deep scratch marks. The engine is running but now we will dismantle it do it up correctly as we don’t to encounter surprises later on. A engine rebuild is something that was not planned for but something that needs to be done. Now this would be a 100% grounds up restoration The chassis and other parts will se sent for sandblasting and powder coating once everything is done and fixed to work as required. The parts which had to be painted I collected them today and dropped it off at OCD Detail Studio with Sumant. He had earlier this year done paint work on my Brio which I was happy with and he is confident that we can do the decals in paint too. So eagerly waiting for him to do his magic and see the finished product… Some pictures… The chassis Shoddy work done on the swingarm Taking a lot off effort to take it out. Last option is to put it on the milling machine and take it out. The mounting point for the main stand New pin made in the correct size Welding work Honed out to fit the correct pin on the main stand Cable holder welded Welding done on the rear grab bar holder on the chassis Clutch looks good Can’t say the same about the right cylinder sleeve And it piston Engine mounting bracket also has a crack and will need to be welded Clutch cover Rear plastic mudguard Part number Battery box Part number Rear number plate holder Air box Radiator guard Rear brake shoe that was on the bike Front mudguard Part number barely visible Continue reading BHPian SnS_12’s post for more insights and information.
