Aspirants set to move Telangana High Court seeking Group – II exam postponement

Hyderabad: The Group – II services aspirants have decided to approach the High Court on Monday seeking postponement of the exam by 15 days.

The aspirants have been appealing to the Congress government and Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to defer the Group – II recruitment examination scheduled on December 15 and 16 since it is clashing with the RRB examination on December 16 to 18. Since their pleas failing to elicit any response, the aspirants have decided to move the High Court.

“RRB recruitment notification for junior engineer posts has been issued after a gap of five years. We want the State government and TGPSC to give us fair opportunity to appear for both the examinations. Since we did not receive a positive response even on the genuine issue we decided to approach the High Court seeking Group – II postponement by 15 days,” said Ravula Jyothi, an aspirant, who along with 22 other aspirants will file the petition in the court.

The issue stems from a recent rescheduling of the recruitment examinations for junior engineer and other category posts by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Initially, RRB exams were to be conducted from December 6 to 13. However, they were rescheduled to be held from December 16 to 17. This revised schedule ended up clashing with the TGPSC Group – II on December 15 and 16.

Due to clash of recruitment exams schedules, the aspirants submitted a representation to the TGPSC seeking Group – II postponement by 15 days as the RRB exam, which is conducted across the country, is difficult to be rescheduled. However, so far, neither the government nor TGPSC spoke on the issue.

The TGPSC had notified 783 posts under the Group – II services and hall tickets for the recruitment examination can be downloaded from the TGPSC website from December 9.

A total of 7,951 junior engineer, depot material superintendent and chemical & metallurgical assistant posts have been notified under different railway recruitment boards (RRBs) across the country. Of these, 590 posts, including 248 unreserved, 104 SC, 45 ST, 130 OBC and 63 EWS, are under the RRB Secunderabad.
