Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in the city under the influence of the cyclonic storm Fengal that has formed over the Bay of Bengal a few days ago and made landfall on the Tamil Nadu coast on Saturday.

More than 20 mm of rainfall was recorded at the areas under the weather observatories monitored by the Andhra Pradesh government in the city on Saturday (between 8.31 am and 9 p.m.) due to the impact of cyclone Fengal, which crossed the north Tamil Nadu coast bordering South Coastal Andhra Pradesh border on Saturday night.
The weather observatory near the Marine Police Station in the city recorded 28.5 mm of rainfall from 8.31 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, highest in the city and Visakhapatnam district, followed by Yendada (26.5 mm), Vizag Zoo (26 mm), Sagar Nagar (25 mm), Madhurawada (24.25 mm), PM Palem Car Shed Junction (22.75 mm) among other areas.
As the impact of the cyclone was less in North Coastal A.P., citizens enjoyed pleasant weather on Saturday with light to moderate rains and clouds and cool sea breeze. No untoward incident was reported, said the officials concerned.
The highest rainfall in the Anakapalli district was recorded at S. Rayavaram at 15.75 mm, while 10.75 mm of rainfall was recorded near Borra Caves in Ananthagiri of Alluri Seetharama Raju district.
