Hyderabad Honors IAF War Veterans from 1965 and 1971 | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Recalling the courage and service rendered by Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel during the 1965 India-China and the 1971 India-Pakistan wars, 16 veteran air warriors were felicitated at the Air Force Association’s annual gathering in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Telangana irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, a former IAF fighter pilot himself, addressed the gathering and assured that the state govt will take steps for the welfare of serving and retired members of the armed forces, as well as their families.
Speaking at the event, the minister reminisced about his own service days and emphasised the govt’s commitment to the welfare of veterans. “As someone who has worn the uniform, I understand the challenges our veterans face. We have asked for a comparative statement on what other state govts are doing for their veterans,” he said.
“We are working within the state administration to address veterans’ concerns promptly. We are one family,” said Uttam.
Honouring the veterans, former IAF chief, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne, said: “I would like to remind veterans of their service to India, and that the country is grateful.”
The ceremony, held at Jal Vayu Towers, saw emotional moments as veterans shared their wartime experiences. The minister presented mementos to the warriors, acknowledging their contribution to national security.
The event also featured a special address by Padma Shri Khader Vali, known as the ‘Millet Man of India’, who spoke about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition. He emphasised how traditional Indian grains can help veterans maintain good health in their advanced years.
