Visakhapatnam: After the demise of Motaparthy Ramachandramma, her family made a generous donation of Rs 5.25 lakh to the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam on her birthday, November 30. This donation will be used to establish an endowment fund for an award in her name. According to IIMV officials, the Ramachandramma Memorial Award will be given annually to the top female student in finance and accounting in the MBA (Flagship) programme at IIM Visakhapatnam.
The late Mrs Motaparthy Ramachandramma, who hailed from a distinguished family of educationists, industrialists, and philanthropists in Andhra Pradesh, was herself a successful finance professional. She always envisioned an award to recognise the “best girl student in MBA finance and accounting.”
IIMV Director, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, stated that the award, along with a merit certificate, will be presented annually from the interest earned on the endowment. “IIMV expresses its sincere gratitude to her family for their generous support in the name of the late Mrs Motaparthy Ramachandramma. This award will undoubtedly inspire and motivate female students to excel in the field of finance and accounting,” said Prof. Chandrasekhar.
“As an Institution of National Importance under the IIM Act of 2017, IIM Visakhapatnam is dedicated to conducting high-quality, impactful research in contemporary management. The MBA (Flagship) programme provides a platform for advancing new knowledge and innovation in management theory and practice, in line with the objectives of the Act. With its top-notch learning resources, state-of-the-art facilities, and modern research tools, the institute offers an immersive, intensive, and fulfilling career experience. IIM Visakhapatnam is, in essence, a powerful platform for knowledge pursuit, idea exchange, and experience sharing,” Prof. Chandrasekhar added.
